Nowadays, this has changed. Divorcing is becoming normal, broken relationships are not a surprise, and unfortunately technology keeps on advancing. Sherry turkle’s article spells this out in detail. The purpose of this argument is to determine the effect of technology on people, and to address the question; Has technology played a part in changing what we are and defining who we are? In a classroom set up, students prefer to carry their Ipods and their mobile phones with them. The teacher cannot deliver the information to everyone because they are buried in a cocoon of technology. However, everyone has an addiction, an addiction that they cannot get rid of. People tend to text rather than talking. The parents who should lead by example would be checking their emails, or talking to friends without realizing how they create distance in their family.

In a work set-up, a conference meeting is called and people would rather be on their phone than listen to an important meeting. The boss doesn’t complain, because he is also absorbed in the same bubble. They behave like the technology teaches them. They are exposed to the same bubble. They grow up not knowing the importance of communicating physically, and they get detached from the real world. The failed relationships are because people lack trust. This is because, people are more consumed in their 1000 friends on social media they would rather spend their time texting and not communicating verbally. Creation of a rapport between teachers and students is a good step. Focusing on communicating and building relationships rather than destroying them by technology is a changing factor.

Managers should also encourage communication, have an avenue whereby the employees socialize, and discuss matters that affect them. At that rate, people get to understand each other and in the long run they can help each other. The parents should also emphasize on family time, where the children are taught the value of talking things out and solving issues head on. They let the technology change who they really are and they end up being lonely. We have to take a step and change this behavior. Talk more and stay behind the screens less. It does not hurt to go for a day without a phone or laptop or any electronic device that connects us to an utopian world. A collective measure will eradicate this adamant problem and create a better world for everyone to coexist in.
