Play assessment is a context used in evaluating a child’s behavior and development levels to determine later if any intervention is required. The 2004 reauthorizing of the Individuals with Disabilities Act has an element of response to intervention (RTI) which the play assessment and intervention meets. Most teachers are using play assessment to identify students with particular needs such as disabilities that want intervention (Salcuni et al. The National Association of School Psychologists supports play assessment and states that it is an essential approach in assessing children’s needs. In my essay, I am summarizing the article and determining how play assessment approach can help teachers in their classrooms. However, in the Transdisciplinary play Based Approach, the parents and early childhood facilitator work together to determine the development level of a kid by observing the Childs behavior in a free play activity and putting it on the document.
