However, the company often struggles to ward off the competition of local producers in foreign markets ("Danone Marketing Strategy" 2018). This paper looks into Asia as a market with particular interest in two countries; India and China and find out the difference in pricing and packaging of Danone yogurt between the two countries. Pricing Danone launched its operations in China about three decades ago, and despite the fact that the consumption of yogurt in the country has significantly increased, it is worth noting that the market has not been as friendly because consumption of yogurt is not an Asian culture ("China Will Overtake The US As The Largest Dairy Market By 2022"). Statistics show that yogurt consumption in China is 25 times less than that in France ("Danone Digital Marketing Strategy In China Decrypted - Marketing China" 2018).

In China, Danone does not mainly rely on dairy products as the main item of sale. This is the price in some of the biggest stalls in the streets of the biggest city in China. The price is below the 8. 4 or so Euros that Danone sells the same quantity of yogurt in France. The struggle is not any different in India, another Asian country. Danone has attempted to make a mark in the Indian dairy products market three times but to no avail. The price shows the reality of Danone’s struggles in India Packaging There are several factors that affect the packaging of any product. Such factors include the price of packaging, the health ramifications of the packaging material, the environmental effect of the packaging material as well as the appearance of the product after packaging.

In China, residents are majorly concerned about their health. Therefore, any food company seeking to succeed in China must be willing to adhere to the health standards in China in all the aspects of the company's production. As such, Danone tries as much as possible to produce healthy products as well as package in healthy containers. Most of the consumers especially in rural India prefer to consume food that is fresh and unpackaged. This may have been another undoing for Danone as far as the sale of yogurt is concerned. For so many years, the locals in India have preferred fresh dairy products that are not packaged. In the recent past, however, packaging of food products especially dairy products has been gaining momentum due to the modernization of the production.
