Name Professor Institution Date Communication Introduction Communication is one of human being’s characteristic that they cannot live without. Communication enables human beings to exchange information or news hence being able to understand each other. Growing up I learned communication is important because it helped me understand people especially members of my family but it was not easy to communicate with my father. Communication whether verbal or non-verbal needs listening and communication ethics so that the process can be efficient otherwise it will be made inefficient by the barriers of communication. Different cultures have different forms of communication. Perception can make one misjudge information being passed to him or her or misjudge the person communicating. My culture made me afraid of my father thinking that it was the best way to show respect to him as the leader of our family just like other members of the family did and he wanted to pass across. He is not goofing at giving gestures hence this makes it hard for me to connect the gestures with the voice message. One day in a party at home my father asked me to bring him flour so that he help my mother but I brought him flowers thinking he needed to give my mother flowers. Conclusion To sum up communicating is the key to understanding each other but for a long time communicating with my father was a problem. I respected my father to the extent of fearing him hence this made me not to be able to listen to him while we were communicating. Barriers to communication especially the perception I had made our communication both verbal and non-verbal ineffective. My culture also contributed in making our communication ineffective because I was required to respect him and not be talking too much. [...]
