Protection from intruders should be emphasized right from the start. There is also the need to protect the students from violence; protests in schools have been in increase with rival students fighting against each other. Therefore, protection from violence including sexual violence remains a key area to consider bearing in mind that school operational areas are open and expansive (Blauvelt, 1999). Violence in school may not only pose a threat to the students but also both the academic and subordinate staff and even visitors. Today, the colleges’ security protocol ought to prepare for this emergency in case it happens. In this case not only the institution’s property that are risk but also student’s property and also lives may be endangered.
The school therefore together with the risk assessment team must come up with regulations and precautions to ensure that human errors leading to such a catastrophe are averted. Taking insurance policies to cover the premises might play an important role in mitigating some of the risks. Theft unfortunately is one of the risks that are hardly unavoidable in a campus setting, especially between students. It is the duty of the school’s security protocol to ensure that the students feel their belongings are safe while at school but the challenge of having a lot of people in one area prove to be the main challenge for the security protocol. , & Guldimann, A.
