However, effective communication depends on the receiver understanding the idea that the sender intends to convey. Besides being useful in the social world, effective communication is also critical in the workplace. Nevertheless, the diagnostic tests I completed heightened my understanding of my duty as both a receiver and a sender of information. I learned the importance of asking questions, being attentive, and providing feedback if I am to enhance clarity. However, strong relationships cannot exist without trust. Trust is an instrument that enhances clear communication. Since it is not always easy to convince the intended receiver (s) in regards to the message being conveyed, showing them the need to develop trust with you smoothens the process. In their research, Bodie et al. found that active listeners tend to be more emotionally aware, which alleviates negative emotions. However, the professional environments that I have encountered constitute activities like speaking, listening, questioning, and working in groups. As such, active listening skill has helped me understand and read both collective and personal messages. Having a friendly persona has helped me encourage my colleagues to indulge in honest and open communication with me. Nevertheless, it is equally vital to be polite in all dealings in the workplace. Polite conversation is beneficially both in one-on-one and written communication. Personalizing communication makes the recipient feel more valued and appreciated. As such, I seek to customize any information between me and my peers, seniors, and coworkers.

Individually, I strive to continuously look for reliable ways through which I can provide constructive feedback to the intended audience. Significant ways through which I give feedback include giving praises in case a task has been accomplished as recommended, thanking involved parties, or communicating failures. Similarly, I prefer and encourage feedback from other since it is the only way that I can grow both physically, mentally, and psychologically. I believe that listening to the feedback helps me become innovative in the future by implementing the input. Nevertheless, I seek to ask for clarifications in cases where I am unsure of the idea or issue conveyed. In addition, another weakness that I have, is paying attention to other's non-verbal signals. Notably, the non-verbal messages conveyed by the second party purpose to inform us of what the person is feeling.

For example, if the person is looking in the opposite direction, it could be evidence that he/she is lying or is uncomfortable. Therefore, some of this weakness has witnessed me not achieving my mission of conversing with the intended audience effectively. Ensuring Clarity and Concision An ideal communication means conveying just enough information. Therefore, having the ability to inhabit the mind and world of the receiver or the sender enables one to adopt a communication strategy that will be effective for the situation. As the meaning suggests, empathy enhances the understanding of other's perspectives rather than individual thoughts. Nevertheless, Jones et al. (3) hold that providing emotional support constitutes responding to the needs of the distressed party, which helps alleviate the negative emotions being experienced.

As such, people conversing should strive to be more empathetic towards each other. Equally, in regards to maintaining eye contact, I feel the need to keep my head up and looking straight at the person/people I am conversing with. Nevertheless, good eye contact communicates the idea that one is interested in the conversation. Finally, I will strive to show empathy by implementing simple actions that suggest agreement. Such gestures can be expressed by nodding the head, smiling, or arriving at a mutual consensus. Affirmative movements let the second party know that one is on their sides and can understand their plight. One way I can achieve that is by eliminating non-essential elements, which are phrases that do not contain meaningful information.

Equally, I am aspiring to be using fewer precise words over numerous ones. Even more, it would be essential to be cautious of any meaningless phrases that add little or no meaning.
