Film Analysis

Write an analysis of the film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(1974) The response should be no less than 300 words in length and should demonstrate an attempt to integrate the class screening(s) with that week’s reading(s). In other words, it should not be a listing of what you “enjoyed” or “did not like” about the films or readings. Rather, the responses should demonstrate a clear engagement with the narrative, the formal characteristics (shots, lighting, sound, mise-en-scene) of the films, and make connections between the films and the readings for that week. This assignment will show me that you are applying the main concepts we are covering in class with the weekly screenings. You will receive full credit for responses only if it (1) is well written and thoughtful,
 (2) meets the minimum specifications, and
 (3) addresses meaningful elements of the film(s) screened that week and how they relate to one or more of the readings.
