International and Cross Сultural Negotiations
During the pre-negotiation stage, preparations for the formal negotiation are made through the arrangement of certain important factors (Crump, 2003). The factors of the formal negotiation which are agreed upon during the pre-negotiation stage include; participants, coalitions, roles of group members, costs of the negotiations and the construction of the main agenda for the negotiation. A good example is a negotiation in the football transfer market. Even before a formal bid is made on a player, scouts are sent to observe the player and try to have an informal conversation with the player regarding a possible transfer. The formal stage is the second stage of multiparty negotiation. The decision may not necessarily favor all the parties and if an agreement is not reached, then the negotiation process is called off (Crump, 2003).
As we focus on the football transfers, an agreement is reached when the clubs finally settle on the fees to be paid for the player and also other terms. When the agreement is reached, the transfer goes through and the player is allowed to leave.
