Hence, the presenter talks about how climate change is a crisis that affects all human beings and in future its effects will keep getting worse if people fail to take the appropriate measures. In the film, the lectures Al Gore gives to massive audiences around the world are covered. At first sight, it might seem as a boring presentation executed by a former politician but Al Gore is passionate and well-informed on the subject. I his lectures, Al Gore makes use of remarkable images on the issue of global warming which makes the documentary interesting and educative. The film seems to target individuals who have little or no information on the issue of global warming and climate change. There are numerous greenhouse gases that exist in the earth’s atmosphere with some occurring naturally while others are increased by manmade emissions.

The most common and most studied greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is released in the atmosphere through the emissions coming from industries and automobiles. Hence, the burning of fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide which in turn accumulates in the atmosphere casing the greenhouse effect. As explained in the text, the greenhouse gas leads to the accumulation of heat energy that should be released out of the atmosphere due to the greenhouse effect. It is a natural process that keeps the earth warm but the excessive accumulation of green house gases brings excess heat to be retained. When the earth’s surface absorbs solar energy, it radiates it back to the atmosphere in form of heat. However, the heat is absorbed by the green house gases as it exits the atmosphere.

The reason the greenhouse gases absorb the heat is because of their molecular structure which enables them to absorb and retain heat unlike other gas molecules. They are made up of at least three atoms which are held together loosely. Hence, the question should not be about whether global warming exists or not but rather it should be about what humans should do to solve the issue. Gore presents various findings to support his claim such as the fact that global temperatures are rising, heat waves have become more common, and the observed increase in the sea surface temperatures. It has also been observed that numerous glaciers are melting which shows that global warming is indeed a fact. Scientific articles and research studies conducted in the past also agree that human beings are causing global warming where at least 97% of them agree with the impact of human activities on global warming.
