The Data Set The data collected regarding the drug abuse among adolescents in Philadelphia indicates the drugs commonly abused, the disorders relating to drug abuse, mortality rates about drug overdoses, and the impact drug abuse has on law enforcement. According to a study of the state of Philadelphia between 2012 to 2014, by the national survey of drug use and health binge alcohol drinking and Marijuana use was rampant among children of ages12-years-old and beyond. Every month about 370, 000 of such minors engage in alcohol binge drinking, marijuana use of 133, 333 adolescents while 55, 530 adolescents abuse other illicit drugs other than marijuana (Anderson, Eloisa, & Stavropoulos, 2017). Lastly, in 2013, 58,391 adolescents used painkillers for non-medical purposes and 35, 809 of the individuals used cocaine (Vaughn, Salas-Wright, DeLisi, & Maynard, 2013).

The data is also of limited quality. The information only represents the individuals attending school and not an accurate representation of the adolescent age group. The generalizability of the survey is dependent on the subjects. It is possible to generalize the study only in instances where the samples are similar to those of Philadelphia. Characteristics of the data The number of deaths as a result of intoxication is quite high in Philadelphia as compared to other states. A notable factor to note regarding the drug indicates that most of the intoxication-related deaths resulted from a combination of cocaine with heroin and fentanyl. The highest death rate due to drug intoxication in a single day according to the data was on 4th December 2016, where 12 individuals died from a cocaine overdose.

In a scenario where drug intoxication was the recorded as the contributing factor to the death, 50 of such deaths were as a result of methamphetamines. A survey on firearm-related homicides found that out of the 125 deaths, 7 of the deaths had positive markings for methamphetamine deaths (Boyer et al. Care Variables An infectious disease related to substance abuse is HIV. In an attempt to establish a coordinated and comprehensive plan, the task force was composed of stakeholders in public health from substance use disorder treatment, community representatives, advocates and law enforcement, medical care, and substance use disorder treatment. The plan being developed seeks to reduce the opioid use disorder that relates to the mortality and morbidity rates in Philadelphia. The task force eventually issued a report indicating that there are four most crucial areas to look into when it comes to addressing the rampant drug abuse.
