The conversion of Angiotensin I to Angiotensin II is mediated by a hormone Angiotensin Converting Enzyme. Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors hence inhibit the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II hence preventing the narrowing of the blood vessels and the development of high blood pressure in patients. Angiotensin inhibitors are good for the management of hypertension due to the high tolerability that they have compared to other hypertensive medications. Most people are tolerant of ACE inhibitors and do not react with adverse side events following their management or treatment with the medications. The high tolerability index of the drugs makes them a strategic choice of medications for patients, reduces risks of non-adherence to the medication regimen and also reduces the risks posed by adverse drug events in patients which can be expensive to manage and contribute to reduced patient satisfaction in care.
