In this article I will take a look at what hypnosis is. I will look at the definition of the word hypnosis and how it pertains to the practice of hypnotherapy. I will then continue to look at the history, paying particular attention to Franz Mesmer and James Braid. We can look at the difference between hypnotherapy and deep breathing and the normal myths surrounding hypnosis. As well as the physical effects hypnotherapy can have on patients.
Hypnosis originates from the Greek term "Hypnos" this means "to sleep. " Hypnotherapy is circumstances of relaxation where the state of awareness is increased by suggestion. Types of hypnotherapy have been used as long previously as forth century BC, with research to aid it being utilized by the ancient Greeks and Romans.
We will now take a look at Franz Anton Mesmer (1734 - 1815) who was simply born in Iznang, Germany.
