Education as a platform is essential because it molds the character and cultivates the intelligence of the particular individual. It is unfortunate to note that while some people still lack access to education in today’s modern world, most of the education systems that are present in diverse regions are seriously flawed as a result of the defunct learning process (Ravitch, 2016). In the quest for a perfect, effective and impactful system, numerous researchers have proposed implementing the Kolb’s Model of Experiential Learning system based on its transformative aspects in a bid to craft an intrinsic, satisfactory, and impactful learning system. Crafting the right construct for education, the Kolb’s Model of Experimental Learning has become a pressing need in the 21st century based on the need to establish a sustainable and globally acceptable education framework.

An analysis of the concept proposed by Kolb’s Model of Experimental Learning will reveal the purpose as well as benefits of the platform, besides elucidating on the barriers that make the attainment of the education concept unreachable globally. The use of experimental learning as a platform ensures the learner is shown how to do a task, rather than simply being taught what to do, an element that culminates with the individual or groups desire to record a better performance (Harfitt & Chow, 2018). Experiential learning is a process that concentrates on not merely acquiring knowledge and skills but developing experience as well as the learner discovers what the event is like, how they felt, and what attachment developed, as the aspects when combined foster the generation of greater skills through the acquisition of new experiences and ideas as well as the modification of the old ones (Kweik, 2014).

Cumulatively, Experimental learning is observed to be a healthy learning process, one that gives the learner a sense of satisfaction, and reward, as they feel valued and appreciated by the process as well as learning tools availed to them (Kolb, 2016). Kolb’s Model of Experimental Learning Four-Step Process When breaking down the experimental learning process, the first step that emerges is referred to as Concrete Experience (CE) concentrates on nurturing the student’s learning experience. Essentially as the opening phrase, concrete experience (CE) revolves around consultation with others, reading, conducting personal research as well as discussing with colleagues who are involved within the course (Harfitt & Chow, 2018). Concrete Experience As a vice, Concrete Experience (CE) concentrates on nurturing the student’s learning experience.

Essentially as the opening phrase, concrete experience (CE) revolves around consultation with others, reading, conducting personal research as well as discussing with colleagues who are involved in the course. A practical example would be offering a 5-minute presentation in class, after discussing the issue within a group and breaking down each of the sub-section to a unique member. After that, the group should proceed to offer the presentation with every member of the group presenting his or her side independently. Despite the fruitful contributions of other members of the group who receive a higher mark for presenting well-articulated points, I individually receive low marks for my presentation style. For instance, in the Class presentation scenario, the insight you gained from both the lecturer and soft skills tutor, as well as the experience gained from the previous class presentation, compel you to prepare for the presentation in advance.

You note down some notes to refer to during the class presentation, as well as practice on delivering the message within the five minutes timeframe. Four Variants of Learning Styles In accordance with the four proposed learning stages under Kolb’s model of experimental learning, the platform highlighted four different types of learning styles that defined the learning process. When briefly named, the learning styles included; assimilating, converging, accommodating, and Diverging (Konak et al. The following segment will profoundly expound on the four learning styles that were identified by the experimental learning process. Within the classroom environment, convergers are excellent at solving technical tasks as they prefer experimenting with different ideas as an approach to stimulate work and realize practical applications.

Cumulatively, convergers are good at solving problems as they excel at selecting the perfect solution after an in-depth analysis of the consequences that are associated with each solution available, an element that practical experimentation of the most effective ideas is based on their and theories. Accommodating The third learning style under the Kolb’s model involves doing and feeling as its primary drivers. Drawing from the four steps highlighted under the model, the Kolb’s platform relies on doing (CE) and feeling (AE), as its primary defining factors. When analyzing the learning style from an in-depth perspective, accommodators are essentially the opposite of assimilators from every viewpoint. Additionally, they rely on imagination to tackle various issues, making their perception concrete at handling situations from several diverse perspectives (Ronkko & Aerila, 2015).

According to Kolb’s model, divergers were perceived to be so, because essentially the individuals performed better in instances that required brainstorming. It is crucial to note that individuals defined by the given style have broad cultural interests, an aspect that makes them more social than the other three groups. Finally, it is crucial to note that divergers prefer to work in groups, as the process enables them to gather information, by keeping an open mind on received personal feedback. Second Situation: My Teaching Experience as an attachment Intern Going for attachments, is a common aspect for every teacher, as the process enables an individual to sharpen their soft skills during future practice. Drawing from the day’s events, as well as my general performance, I acknowledge that the experience was a new phrase to me, one that redefined the prospects I had when I joined the teaching profession.

I realize that to be at a teacher at a very young age is not strange, as the experience is common even among the colleagues of my age. Although I feel weird in the beginning, I learn to accept the changes, resulting in my development of confidence as well as general behavior modification. Abstract Concepts (AC) Thirdly, Abstract Concepts (AC) is nurtured by the insight gained from an individual’s reflections and observation. As a step, AC is crucial for it provokes the learner to implement plans that will alter the future practices. Additionally, students should be allowed to choose and change their preferred class setting depending on how paced they are at understanding the taught concepts. By capitalizing on this aspect, it is evident that the Kolb’s model of experimental learning would be able to motivate the student’s engagement in different tasks, an element that is based on the presence of an empowering environment.
