NBC NIGHTLY NEWS AND PBC NEWSHOUR

This has led to what may be described as some sort of difference in the nature of how news is being presented among the various for-profit media programs as compared to the non-profit oriented programs. In this case, this presentation focuses on the disparities which can be seen between NBC Nightly News and PBC Newshour. The modalities used to present the various news programs is what can be cited as the main reason for the differences seen between the two media houses, especially as seen Sunday, 30th evening news editions. Both the NBC Nightly News and PBC Newshour started off their programs with the issue concerning the Investigation of Justice Kavanaugh. NBC Nightly News, which used the headline "Confirmation Cliffhanger" went ahead and spent approximately 5 minutes on this story.

As from the fourth articles that were presented by the two, is when one may start noticing the disparities between the two programs. While NBC Nightly News spent about 2 minutes on the headline ‘pilot shortage,' PBC Newshour allocated about 4 minutes to carry out an interview with Jeff Greenfield. In the interview, the point of focus was the forthcoming midterm elections. This being such a concerning matter to every US citizen, the idea to host an analyst who gave a much more in-depth insight into matters was quite a good score. This is because the interview session gave the whole program a much clearer meaning. But as seen on the other news segments, the two greatly differ on how they are giving emphasis to the different issues.

For instance, since NBC Nightly News chose to have the incident on a car explosion as its second headline, anyone would expect them to move ahead and try to figure out what exactly happened before and after. This was not the case as the program only gave a 1-minute highlight on the same before moving to other matters. This is not to say that the reported issue was not true, but there is a need to always go beyond what everyone else can see. Still focusing on the role of Fact checking, PBC Newshour spent nearly half of the entire program focusing on the headline ‘Crackdown on Visas. This comparison has been made on the basis of the various news articles which carried more weight as far as the state of the society is concerned.
