Also, this move was important as it made the bible available to people in the language they understood outside the church. The second landmark in the protestant reformation was the excommunication of Martin Luther from the church. The Catholic Church reacted to the rapid spread of Luther’s ideas by expelling him, which fuelled violence and gave birth to the Protestantism witnessed in the present days. His excommunication was significant because he and other reformists were able to organize and execute the protests against the Catholic Church doctrines. This led gradually to the scientific revolution, exploration and colonization. Some of the reformation protestant churches that have deeply influenced and survived to present time are Adventists, Anglicans, Baptists and Pentecostals. Majority of Protestants are members of these Protestant denominational families.
