Medicare and Medicaid program Essay

These two programmes have been a major pivot to healthcare services for low income persons. The program has benefited many Americans. Medicaid has provided medical covers for persons with severe mental health illness both poor adults and especially children who are prone to mental health problems (Smith et. al. Medicare has covered for long term care of senior adults (above 65 years) in nursing homes and home health care (Hoffman, Klee’s, & Curtis, 2003). People will no longer sit with their diseases for the fear of related cost of treatment. Any time one gets ill, he/she is ready to seek medical care as financing will not be an issue. Universal Health coverage will for sure increase the life expectancy of the American population (Harrington, LaPlante, & Kaye, 2012).
