Sometimes people tend to think that when a service has a reduced cost is of poor quality with managed care, and this is not the case as it is the role of managed care and integrated health systems to balance this two, that is, cost and quality. How cost effectiveness and improved health care is achieved is the role of managed care and integrated health system as discussed in this paper which gives a discussion of a benchmark concerning managed care. The paper also gives a discussion on how various therapies such as solution focused, family systems and post-modern therapies fit in managed care. The role of managed care and integrated system’s health is to ensure that unnecessary costs of health care are reduced through various mechanisms which include physician’s economic incentives together with that of the patents so as to enable them to select care forms that are less costly among other mechanisms that can be used to achieve the goal of managed care (Livorsi, 2005).

These other mechanisms include ensuring that the programs used to review medical requirements of services are in particular, increasing the beneficiary of sharing cost, controlling admissions of inpatient and the length in which they stay in the hospital, establishing incentives of cost-sharing for surgery of outpatients, contracting selectively the providers of health care and lastly intensively managing cases of high costs of health care. The therapy is also very brief as the therapist’s role is very precise and tries as much as possible to avoid those questions that are closed-ended because they prohibit the client from exploration and creation of solutions (Stalker et al. Managed care’s one of its techniques to have cost reduced in healthcare is the reduction of the length of stay of clients in medical facilities.

By making SFT precise makes it fit into managed care. A FST (family systems therapy) makes the system think in a way that views the family as a unit of emotions. So a system is used to think and evaluate every part of the family. The therapy established clear, concrete and realistic goals to achieve a positive change within possibly a shorter period. It is therefore focused on quality healthcare, and this is an indication that it fits into managed care as the approach is committed to a positive outcome for clients. It is also brief, and therapists have a precise role on their clients which is to address the present and future problems of clients. They, therefore, take the clients through a collaborative dialogue to create solutions for client’s problems.
