Case Study 1-1: Selection of an Information Technology Platform Student’s Name University Name Case Study 1-1: Selection of an Information Technology Platform IMT Custom Machine Company Inc. Introduction The reason to conduct this case study is to suggest a strategic Information System (IS) plan for the Fort Wayne Plant which is one of the largest factories in Indiana also manufacturing custom machines where Fort Wayne Plant is considered as the subsidiary company of International Machine and Tool (IMT). The purpose to conduct this study is to establish the best technological platform including hardware and software which is needed by the Information System of Fort Wayne in order to satisfy and attain its strategies and vision. The key players in this case study are: June Page Charles Browning Vice President of CMCI IMT Staff Engineer Not Involved in the process of Information System at IMT Extensive Background in Scientific Computing Custom Machine is between $2 million - $8 million and if the test results in misinterpretation of the customer’s specification it will cost IMT over $100 000. So before running any test the machines are properly being tested at either Fort Wayne or Chicago Factory. In my opinion I would suggest to combine the Option 1 and Option 2 as this combination will help the IMT to maintain the mainframe’s investment thus by this the centralized computing environment will get easy and can be managed properly. As the servers are being operated by someone else so less technical staffs are required. Enhancing of the security is much significant in this case. Linux workstations should be implemented. Also employ the utilization of LAN and WAN to interconnect with each other to share useful information. References Brown C. DeHayes D. Hoffer J. Martin E. & Perkins W. (2012).
