They formulate policies and guidelines that govern the conduct of institutions and college athletes. Regulations, Rules, and Bylaws of NCAA. The NCAA rules on amateurism stipulate ways through which students benefit from the revenues generated through their participation in different sports. Additionally, they state the maximum and minimum amount of money that one can receive from their respective colleges. Lately, the student-athletes have felt that the associations are exploiting them. The conferences would determine the range of bonuses to offer their athletes while those who are not interested in offering cash rewards would come up with better packages that are of the same value. Furthermore, the colleges which do not boost a lot of resources would choose to continue offering a full scholarship with no additional benefits.

NCAA representatives argue that if student-athletes were to be paid salaries, they would deplete money generated from both basketball and football. They further claim that by replacing college scholarship with salaries, it would lead to professionalizing student athletics which would, in turn, take away education as a priority. Thus, reducing future opportunities for talented and bright students to express and showcase their skills while learning. However, professors should ensure that athletics do not affect the productivity of the students in the class by making timely reports and presenting them to the relevant bodies. In case the student’s performance is adversely affected by their participation in sports they should be advised accordingly and the necessary action taken. Also, NCAA should come up with favorable terms and regulations to both students and institutions to avoid future conflicts.
