The condition can be characterized by binge and purge type of eating behavior where the patient engages in binge eating and purges after eating to alleviate their fear of gaining weight. The purge may be in the form of excessive involvement in exercises, abusing laxatives or induced vomiting. Anorexia nervosa may be characterized by restrictive behaviors where the individual restricts themselves from taking certain foods, such individuals consume fewer calories below their body requirements leading to low weight and self-starvation. The issue of concern is hence the uncharacteristically frailty by the patient and her insistence on diet pills which would further lower her weight. The SCOFF questionnaire is one tool that can be utilized to identify a diagnosis of an eating disorder (Solmi, Hatch, Hotopf, Treasure & Micali, 2014).
