Even though there are varied reasons or push and pull factors that made immigrants move to the United States from their respective countries, economics was the most significant factor (Locke and Wright). First of all, the railroads made it possible for immigrants and farmers from different parts of the country to meet. Also, most people moved to the United States in search for jobs in the railroad companies and other industries. As people from different areas settled together, they developed a new culture in America. The United States of America was able to establish itself as a world power through industrialization. However, the Americans in rural areas languished in poverty as those who moved to the cities lived in congested areas with high criminal activities.
