What are these ID models? These are specifically structured frameworks, tailored in such a way as to cover most if not all the needs of a student, so as to improve on quality learning and training. There are many such models in use today, but today I’ll be exploring the 4C-ID model; Features and applications. 4C-ID Model This model is in full known as the four-component instructional design model. As the name suggests, it is made up of four elements: Learning Tasks, Part-Task Practice, Supportive Information and Procedural Information (Susilo et al, 2013). The model is developed to help in learning and acquisition of complex cognitive skills. Supportive Information: Lecturers should be ready to provide information and direction on how to approach each task.

This can be done by the lecturer taking part in some of the tasks and elaborating more on the knowledge learnt in class. This also enhances student-teacher relations as the students now deem the lecturer as an approachable figure and no just somebody they have to put up with till the end of that particular course and thus consequently improving student performance (Gathering-Feedback-from-Students, 2010). Procedural Information: This refers to the amount of knowledge the students have in regard to the task they are supposed to complete. Before each task, the lecturer should ensure that the students have adequate knowledge required to tackle the given task in order to avoid student frustration and hence shoddy work. It is also designed to cut down on errors and omissions so as to ensure both the satisfaction of students and lecturers alike during the training process to ensure maximum efficiency.

The job aid is also to be used as a reference tool for information that may have been lost during the process of training. It is also supposed to be used to help in the retention of knowledge passed along during training as it is easier to remember simplified information in video format than a whole manual of written words. This job aid also simplifies the learning process and thus, ensures consistency and better performance. References Gathering Feedback from Students.
