Blogging the Great Debate

Project #2, submit a three-five paragraph "blog" supporting either Dr. Washington's or Dr. Du Bois' program for advancing the material and financial status of black Americans at the end of the Reconstruction Era (late 19th/early 20th century). In your blog: 1) Demonstrate your understanding of the basic principles of your choice's "vision" for the immediate future; 2) Argue the validity of this vision, using references to and quotations from your reading , specifically citing his important works ; 3) Counter-argue with those who support the opposing figure's comments, pointing out how the opposing "candidate's" policy was unworkable and counter-productive, given the historical/cultural context. Again--refer to and quote the works themselves! You may, if you wish, respond to other students' blogs--particularly those which SUPPORT the opposing spokesperson's position! NOTE: Sample Student Blog posted! (This one defends Dr. Du Bois' position, though--I'm not trying to advocate either agenda!)
