It’s what provides direction towards the right way of doing things and thus it’s generally what shapes the behaviors of employees within the organization. Google is one of the companies with a very reputable and unique culture which has greatly contributed to its success in the external environment. In this essay, I will evaluate Google’s unique culture and how has helped the company successfully compete in the external environment. To begin with, Google is known for its corporate culture of treating its employees as its top priorities providing them with the best work experience and innumerable benefits including free meals, on-site health, dental care, swimming pools, workout facilities and fun work environment with the aim of encouraging collegiality as well as breaking down barriers to the rapid development of ideas within the organization (01).
Google developed an operating philosophy comprising of ten things that were aimed at making the company better and competitive in the market as part of its culture with the number one focus being “Focus on the user, and all else will follow” (02). Such innovative culture has greatly contributed to the success of the company (01). Google provides great compensation to its employees by offering a base salary, bonus to its performing employees, stock options, and also other benefits and perks with the aim of being competitive in the industry. This ensures high retention levels within the company. Google also has a unique culture in relation to the recruitment and hiring of its employees aimed at ensuring the best talents work at the company.
