Understanding Hamlet's Activities by Evaluating Him to Laertes and Fortinbras

In William Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet, Laertes, Fortinbras and Hamlet find themselves in similar circumstances. While Hamlet waits for the proper period to avenge his father's loss of life, Laertes learns of his father's death and immediately desires vengeance, and Fortinbras awaits his chance to capture land which used to participate in his father. Laertes and Fortinbras start accomplishing their wishes quite differently than Hamlet. While Hamlet works slowly and gradually and carefully, Laertes and Fortinbras get their revenge with haste. Although Laertes and Fortinbras are minor character types, Shakespeare molds them so that you can comparison with Hamlet. Fortinbras and, to a larger extent, Laertes become foils to Hamlet regarding their motives for revenge, execution of their ideas and behavior while undertaking their plans. Although each identity plots to avenge his daddy in the play, the motives of Laertes and Fortinbras vary drastically than that of Hamlet. Fortinbras, who schemes to rebuild his father's kingdom, leads a large number of men into battle, wanting to capture a tiny and worthless little bit of Poland. After his uncle warned him against attacking Denmark. The added territory can do little to benefit Norway's prosperity, but this campaign might cost "two thousand souls and twenty thousand ducats" (4.4.26) . This demonstrates pride is a driving point behind Fortinbras' approach because he's willing to put the lives of his countrymen at risk for a minor gain. Laertes, on the other hands, is compelled to get revenge because he loses his father and finally his sister. The main of Laertes' revenge is apparently the take pleasure in for his friends and family because he proclaims that he will "be revenged / many throughly for [his] dad" (4.5.138-139) . This implies that Laertes will possibly avenge his father's loss of life or die trying.
