A Satisfying and Eye Opening Stay at Cherry Creek

One of the most impactful weeks of my life so far took place over Spring Break of 2015. I am forever marked by the experiences I had with the Lakota and they have been burned into my heart and into my mind. I keep trying to readjust to the way things are here, but I keep getting the sense that I will never fully go back to how things were before. Visiting Cherry Creek has forever changed my outlook and has ignited a passion in me for the Lakota people. In this paper, I will try and process through some of this even more than what I have already. Training with Kurt Caddy was possibly the best thing our team could do to prepare for what we would experience. Instead of simply briefing us on details and giving us lectures on the people and culture, Kurt targeted our hearts, attitudes, and mindsets. He challenged us with each meeting to learn about who we were as individuals, who we were as a team, and who the Lakota were in relation to all of that. I myself was thoroughly challenged to dig deep into scripture to learn more about my identity in Christ and the implications of that. He also challenged us to be fluid. One time in particular was when there was a snow day on the day of our meeting. Kurt posted in the Facebook group that he wanted us to meet regardless and that we could decide whether we met during that time or at some other time in the week. He then offered no more direct input
