The Growth of Terrorism Today

Terrorism is one of the major issues of the modern society, and it has a global concern. Its present is felt all over the world, and the growth of terrorism is a debated matter in many developed and developing countries these days. This phenomenon isn’t new, and its presence can be traced back to ancient times, but it has undergone a number of incredible changes. Today, terrorism is more widespread, lethal, and difficult to control, so its growth is a serious challenge for the civil society.

Terrorism is present everywhere, including Somalia, Sudan, Chile, and many other places. Almost all countries are both indirectly or directly faced with this problem that keeps growing each day. It’s clear that terrorists are huge enemies for the society because they undermine its stability and create all kinds of chaotic conditions that often result in such harsh outcomes as mass destruction, killing, and damage. Such public places as railway stations, airports, and others are basic targets of terrorists. Sometimes, they also shift their focus to softer targets, such as hospitals, schools, buses, and trains because their security forces aren’t quite vigilant.

Each country defines terrorism in a unique way based on its suitability, so it has no universally accepted definition. Basically, it’s an illegal use of violence or its threat focused on inculcating a fear in people. Terrorism is a certain philosophy of violence where terrorists do their best to destabilize the economy of different countries. These days, it’s used to deliberately create specific communal tensions and disrupt a peaceful environment of a targeted country or society.

Each action is always carried on for certain motives. The impact of terrorism has a few basic motives, including ethnic minority, religious, and economic interests. In reality, there are no terrorist groups that fight for these causes because their real targets include the land, power to hold it, and get maximum benefits. Political power and economical resources are the main causes of growing terrorism. It’s worth mentioning that fundamentalist groups tend to be more active in developing countries, not in developed regions. They are well-equipped with modern technologies and advancements, including easy-to-operate and small weapons. Terrorist keep making their explosives and bombs, thus threating the modern society.
