Argument for Smoke-Free Restaurants

Have you ever been in a situation when you sit in a restaurant with the smoking area because the non-smoking area is full? Or maybe you sit in the non-smoking section, but the strong odor of the tobacco smoke still reach your nose and burn your lungs. Helplessly, you may have witnessed children near you sneezing, coughing and rubbing their eyes during eating their meal. And even before the waitress brings your food to you, the enjoyment and satisfaction of having a meal have been ruined. All this happen because people in the restaurant spend their time and eat the meal near the persons who have a deathly habit like smoking.

Nearly every Nebraskan loves a meal which is cooked at home; of course, it is fresh, delicious and health-giving. Unfortunately, taking into account our busy lives, it is clear that it is often difficult to cook in such way, that is why lots of the families turn to the convenience of the restaurants. Although it seems to be a fine solution, a problem arises when all restaurants allow their visitors to smoke inside of the buildings. The effects of the secondhand smoke are indeed so harmful when the patrons of the restaurant are unintentionally exposed to it. It means that something widespread as eating out can become a significant hazard for health. Local factions have increasingly become involved with the issue, as the non-smoking Nebraskans can show their support with the help of voicing disapproval. Initiating smoke-free restaurants within the state will not only create more desirable dining experience but also will improve the lives and save the health of the residents.

Secondhand smoke doesn’t know the boundaries and as result, it is presented throughout the restaurants. It can still circulate to the patrons who choose not to smoke inside the building and who are seated in non-smoking sections. Lots of the restaurants have tried to deal with this concern by the process of segregation of the area and constructing separate ventilation systems within the dining rooms. Unfortunately, such systems don’t alleviate all toxins which are in the air. Furthermore, they don’t protect the patrons of the restaurants who need to sit in the waiting areas or bar area or in the lounge. Non-smoking patrons of the restaurants begin to experience stuffy sinuses, watery eyes and some difficulties in breathing in when they sit near the visitors of the restaurants who smoke a lot.
