Abbey, And His Fear Of Progress

It was the day when the jeep of gray color with the U.S. Government decal and “Bureau of Public Roads” in this, Edward Abbey knew that the progress had arrived. The man had foreseen it, watching other parks like his one, fall in the face of progress. Edward Abbey also knew that hordes of the people and their ‘machines’ would come. Lots of people see this progress as a good thing. But Abbey proclaimed that he would rather take his chances in the thermonuclear was than live in a world like this.

But there is the question. Is the progress really all of that? Edward Abbey also asked how he can improve on the Mother Nature. As for the progress, it actually detracts from the natural beauty of the parks. Litter, cars, and vandalism can be also attributed to so-called progress.

The automobile is the most detrimental aspect of the progress. For example, parks are only for people. It is the public-relations slogan which decoded some means that the parks are oriented in people-in-automobiles. In reality, it is shown that people come to stream there and to drive the cars as well. People are in a hurry always because they are trying to see as lots of parks as possible in their short vacation time. People usually have to deal with lots of things, for example, traffic, car troubles, hotel rooms and other issues pushing them onward, the long trip home in a flood of cars and the bored children.

Lots of people take lots of pictures, possibly so that they can really enjoy of being and spending time in the park without all of the hassles. But people also can’t experience the wonderment and the beauty of the parks without leaving their cars. Humans usually can find the stress and chaos that they need to leave their homes.

Though there is a minority that prefers to be able to get away from the today’s world completely and travel throughout the parks of horses, bicycles or on foot. With the help of these vehicles, people can travel in the quiet trails that are impressed by the cars. These trails will lead them to places where the progress has yet to hit. People also can sleep outside, breath the fresh air and hear nothing but Mother Nature itself. People will never get pushed out of the way purchase the rush of other tourists, cramming for catching a glimpse of the sights. This is definitely the thing which I call anti-progress. I also think that anti-progress is what the real progress seeks desperately for destroying.
