If you are like most people, you probably don’t like failures. You see failures as collapse and a proof that your plan was not successful or your ideas were not good enough. But the truth is that failures happen to everybody. One of the things that distinguish successful people is the correct understanding of the power of the failure. To be successful you must learn from the mistakes and failures that happen in your life and do not give up and despair.
There are three main reasons why failures have positive effects on our life.
• If you’ve failed, it means you’ve tried.
The best way to measure your progress in any field is to count the number of failures that you have had. If you didn’t have any failures, chances you did not really even try. Failure is a hammer you use to reach success. If you really want to achieve success in something, you need to fail at least a couple times. Obviously, failure leads to growth, but does not lead to lesions.
• Failures can be used as tools to reach success.
Many people can’t use failures as tools to reach success. When you take failures to heart, you suppress yourself and lose your strength. Success is the study of the causes of failures and how to use them for future progress.
Try to answer the following questions: What caused the failure? What part of the blame is on me? How can I use my influence to turn failure into success? What steps should I take to start over? What can I do every day to make sure that a new attempt will be more successful?
Take a piece of paper and go through this list of questions. Be open and honest with yourself. Analyze your answers and start to act without hesitation. Remember that failure is an opportunity, not a burden. Be grateful for the opportunity to grow.
• Failures make your character stronger.
If you look at the events leading to significant victories, you are sure to find that failure is the biggest motivator. Success can come in small pieces that are part of a winning strategy. On the other hand it is not effective to expect that something is going to happen year after year if you don’t act now.
What makes you constantly check yourself and learn from mistakes? It is your character.
Success usually comes to those who are prepared for it. Creation of values requires certainty, setting goals, and strong character. Failure builds character much better than any statement or goals. While every successful action can move you a little bit forward, failure can harden your personality as nothing else can.
