It was the time when I found some chapters about the discussion of the cultural norms of different nations and populations and how this affects the behavior of the person. Let’s agree that this book gives the description for the culture as the ideas, traditions, enduring behaviors and attitudes which are shared by the large group of people as well as transmitted from the certain generation to the next one. When I hadn’t still read this chapter, I didn’t imagine the existence of different variations across the cultures. I also didn’t think that there are so many norms of the culture. By the way, such norm is the understood rule for the expected and accepted behavior and the culture should respect the differences of another one. Without taking this into account, every aspect of the culture shapes the people from the certain nation.
While considering the nurture and nature, the culture diversity is the where the nurture becomes to be included. Everybody has a different experience, which is determined by the great amount of differences of the cultures. For example, reading is pointed out that cultures of Asian countries place to this more emphasis on the school and hard work than the culture of North America does. It is also said about the possibility detail explaining of the fact why Taiwanese and Japanese children get their higher scores of the different mathematic achievement tests. But we also know that mathematic is the same everywhere. And children also learn the same rules, theories and material. Being in my school, I was often curious about the reasons of why Asian children did such mathematic tests better than others. And these chapters that I had read earlier help to understand and give some answer on this question.
As for me, I connect this question with the impact of the world cultures, but these ones absolutely didn’t go into the depth of the culture and its norms which might affect the people as early as the time of their births. In some chapters of the book, it is explained that the reading as well as other human activities vary across the different cultures of the world. They also explained the reasons of how over the time some different expectations and norms guide the human behavior. Different world cultures differ in their norms and terms for such things as the pace of life, expressiveness and personal space for humans. Of course, this can explain some facts which we can see, but can’t understand in our reality.
