The American Revolutionary War

American Revolution is a revolutionary war, which resulted that the North American colonists were freed from the dominion of the British Empire and the United States was founded.

Despite the political upheavals of the XVII century, by the middle of the next century, Britain was still a strictly hierarchical society, rooted in the feudal past. Meanwhile, on the opposite shores of the Atlantic Ocean immigrants, brought up in the religious traditions of puritanism and already have experience in the development of new land, more and more imbued with the spirit of anti-authoritarianism and self-reliance.

The first charter, governing the rights of the colonies, admitted government. In other words, the colonies evolved separately from the mother country, and immigrants, began to realize themselves as Americans and, of course, began to resist attempts to subdue them.

In 1765 Parliament adopted a law on state revenues (the "Sugar Act") and the Stamp Act.

In 1765, at the Congress, consider the Stamp Act, representatives from nine colonies have adopted several resolutions, including claims that a precondition of freedom of the people and the undoubted right of Englishmen lie in the fact that they cannot impose any taxes without their consent that is given in person or through their representatives.

The Stamp Act was never enforced, and a year later canceled altogether, but the parliament still did not give up its power. Growing discontent in the colonies led to the convening in 1774 of the First Continental Congress. The participants demanded independence for the people of the colonies from the United Kingdom.

The first shots of the Revolutionary War were made in April 1775 in Lexington, and the Declaration of Independence, signed on July 4, 1776, is the actual gap between Britain and the colonies. The war for independence was essentially a political revolution, perfect colonists who refused to submit to imperial rule. However, in many respects, it was a conservative revolution. Many well-known fighters for independence are extremely reluctant to break with Britain and recognize its necessity only as a last resort. They also argued that, resisting British rule, they are only defending their rights as Englishmen, and that the London government is using illegal measures violate the status quo in the colonies. The Revolution was limited, while remaining a political revolution, which did not lead to a radical restructuring of economic and social structures.
