A Hypocritical Democracy Essay Assignment

It’s hard to imagine the modern world without democracy, and when it comes to the so-called Jacksonian era, there were countless progressions made in this area. In overall, they made a huge impact on the development of democracy and society in this country. For a long time, American citizens believed that Jacksonian democrats were their guardians, and this period has lasted from the 1820s to the 1830s. Another common statement at that time was that they worked hard to improve the entire nation for all people.

However, the truth is that President Jackson vetoed the bill focused on the re-chartering the Bank of America and limited the rights of Native Americans. His policy also brought many Southerners under their submission because of the Tariff. In 1832, this US president enacted the well-known Spoils System that didn’t provide the best leadership, and the worst part is that it was morally corrupt. Besides, Jackson was also involved in the event known as Jacksonian Equality, but it didn’t apply to slaves and women. That’s why this type of democracy is now called hypocritical.

Although the political democracy and economy of this country flourished during his reign, it’s obvious that the main thing that Jackson managed to do is furthering the development of social, political, and economic equality only among white people. Besides, all of these important factors contributed to viewing his era as the contradictory and hypocritical version of true democracy.

For example, in 1832, Jackson made his important decision to veto the bill focused on re-chartering the Bank of America. This is how his veto message accused the Bank of monopoly according to the fact that it was controlled and dominated only by foreigners and rich aristocrats at that time.

However, the main problem remained the same because after dismantling this bank, American citizens ended up with a devastating financial depression. It affects not only this country, but it caused a lot of trouble to other countries. This means that the fatal decision of President Jackson to kill the Bank of America was against the will of many states that affirmed this financial organization to be rightful. This is how he violated the basic constitutional liberties and rights of many people. Finally, in 1830, he passed the so-called Indian Removal Act that caused many negative impacts on Native Americans.

It’s hard to imagine the modern world without democracy, and when it comes to the so-called Jacksonian era, there were countless progressions made in this area. In overall, they made a huge impact on the development of democracy and society in this country.
