Nowadays, HIV and AIDs are dangerous and threatening, but many people still have no basic understanding of this major health problem. That’s why they need to answer a few important questions to be well-informed and protected.

What is HIV? Basically, it’s all about a dangerous virus that attacks the human immune system gradually, so it ruins its nature defense against all diseases. When people are infected with HIV< they find it much harder to fight different infections. This virus destroys specific white blood cells, and there are many diverse strains of HIV. So, those patients who are infected may carry a range of strains in their bodies. They all are easily classified into basic types that include a number of groups and subtypes. For example, HIV 1 is the most common type in the world, while HIV 3 is spread mostly in Western Africa.

What do people need to know about HIV? They should understand that HIV is all about human immunodeficiency virus and it can take around 10-15 for it to develop into AIDS, and this is when this disease damages the immune system considerably. With effective treatments and their early diagnosis, people can live a healthy life. This virus is easily found in different body fluids, including the blood, breast mild, and others, but it can’t be transmitted via saliva or urine. According to the latest stats, the most widespread way for people to become infected is by having either vaginal or anal sex without condoms. They are also at risk of being infected by using infected syringes and needles or during birth and breastfeeding.

What is AIDS? It’s a specific syndrome resulted by HIV, and it’s when people’s immune system becomes too weak to fight different infections and bacteria. This health condition develops when HIV is quite advanced, and it’s the last stage of spreading this deadly virus. It’s characterized by a condition when the human body can’t defend itself any longer and it starts developing many infections, ailments, and so on. The worst part is that this dangerous disease leads to people’s death in the end.

Unfortunately, there is still no effective cure against AIDS and HIV. With the right medical support and treatment, infected patients can live longer and stay healthy with HIV. To achieve this goal, they need to undergo special treatment and deal with potential side effects.
