There are lots of personalities in both business and educational environments, who have had difficulties function in the environments of group or team. It is believed that the behavior of the team is something that is learned and discovered at the early age through the different activities such as school, family and sports events. It is the common situation when we see people who have been good teammates in the sport, and they have the tendency to be the member of the team that should be sought out because of the behavior, which they exhibit. This is about the sacrifice and self, the ability to work together as the part of something that is larger toward the common aim.
There are some specialists who study this question. And there are lots of points of view, and firstly, it is Senior Vice-President and Chief People Officer of Cognizant whose name is T. Sridhar. According to him, the skills of any team are the so important in the modern world of global IT development and the qualities which he looks for in the new hires are “can-do” attitude, the ability to work within the team, the so-called right aptitude and the ability to solve the problems.
There is one more example, which I can bring from my life. So when I have studied at The University of Phoenix, I had some problems in the team with the members of which I studied. And after these years of my studying, I have understood the only one thing. If the person wants to be the part of the really successful team, he/she has to know not only the weakness and strengths of the rest of teammates but also the weak and strong sides of this person. In fact, it is really easy to identify own strengths in the team environment and to include the leadership, distributing and taking in the information. To this list the ability to stay focused on the goals and requirements of the team must be added.
But I believe that among my strengths there is the ability to be the good teammate with the help of being honest and open in my dealings and affairs with the members of the team as well as consciously keeping the team discussions that are closed and, of course, confidential within the team. In other words, I believe that the work of the team can bring more success and satisfaction to its members that the every individual will work alone without help from the other persons. Such feeling can be found while working within the team and it is the form of reward in itself, and there is something that has to be the goal for the rest of members of the team.
