During the history there the strict gender roles have been set in the place for people to follow. At the time, when William Shakespeare lived and wrote his plays, all women were considered to be the weaker sex from the both emotional and physical sides. The females were expected always to obey and listen to their husbands, and, of course, women were not allowed for making the rules. From the other hand, men were expected to play the roles of the head of their household. All men were wise and strong. In the late 1500’s William Shakespeare broke new ground with the help the unusual idea of the reversal of gender roles. Considering the famous play Macbeth, it is important to mention that relations between Macbeth’s are so interesting because both of them are not the stereotypical men and women which were normal for that time. Shakespeare in this play used the reversal of gender roles to demonstrate the demise of both Lady Macbeth and Macbeth.
In William’s play, Lady Macbeth portrays lots of traits that wouldn’t belong to the females at that time. For example, she is so ambitious and dominant. Lady Macbeth demonstrates her dominance in the planning of her marriage. And when she believes that her husband is ambitious, she also thinks that he is so kind and cute for carrying out the modern of Duncan. There are some episodes in the pay, which underline the fears of Macbeth who will not take the proper chance to commit the crime as a murder in order to take the throne of the King.
William Shakespeare did his best to describe this woman, who was better described as a man because she had lots of features and characteristics which describe men. Lady Macbeth demonstrates her ambition with the help of her words. They help to understand that she is concerned with the immediate and absolutely power and she will do everything for achieving the goals she has. Also, she knows that she has the great influence on her husband, and it will be easy for her to gain the power. To chastise him is just the only one part of Macbeth’s plans. Lady Macbeth impacts so well on her husband, that’s why she believes that he will do everything that she will ask. In turn, Lady Macbeth will achieve her aims and gain the power not only for her family and husband but for the whole country because she was going to take the King’s place.
