Breast Cancer Problems Essay

Breast cancer forms in the tissues of women breasts, and it’s the most widespread cancer type in female patients these days. According to the latest statistics, research and awareness helped people improve their diagnosis and screening, but there are still many problems associated with this serious disease. Luckily, death rates keep declining, thanks to early detection, new treatments, and other improvements, so these issues can be solved gradually.

The main problem is that it’s still unclear what causes this serious condition. All doctors understand that it happens when some cells in breasts start growing abnormally and they divide fast while keeping accumulating and forming a mass or a lump. These harmful cells may spread to other body organs, thus causing a lot of harm. This cancer type often starts in milk-producing ducts, but sick cells may start forming in glandular tissues and other areas of breasts.

Scientists determine specific environmental, lifestyle, hormonal, and other factors that may contribute to the development of breast cancer. However, it’s still unclear why some people without any risk factors develop this disease, while patients with many risk factors remain healthy. There are suggestions that this disorder is resulted by some complex interactions of people’s genetic makeup and environment.

Another problem is that breast cancer risk factors may include anything that makes people more likely to have this ailment, but this doesn’t mean that they will get sick if they have these factors. Some of the most common ones include being women because breast cancer mostly affects female patients. Another risk factor is their increasing age, and a personal or family history of this disease also increases the risk of developing this medical condition. For instance, if sisters, mothers, or daughters of patients are diagnosed with breast cancer, especially in their young age, patients are more prone to have it too. The problem is that many patients who are diagnosed with this disease have no history of it.

Besides, inherited genes also increase this risk, and they include certain mutations that are passed from parents to their kids. Radiation exposure is another factor that often contributes to the development of breast cancer, so if some people receive radiation treatments to their chest, their risk is increased considerably.
