Let’s illustrate The Battles of Beowulf

The ruler of the Danes, King Hrothgar is greatly troubled by the fierce rampages of a demon dubbed Grendel. Every night, this monster attacks King Hrothgar's wealthy mead-hall, Heorot, murdering Danish soldiers and even eating them from time to time.

Hrothgar happened to be a great warrior of his time, though now he's just an old king, unable to protect his folks. Fortunately, a young Geat warrior Beowulf is on his way to Heorot Hall from his lands overseas in order lend his helping hand. Having explained that he owes Hrothgar a favor due to the fact Hrothgar helped out his dad, Beowulf offers to fight Grendel on his own. King Hrothgar gladly accepts Beowulf’s offer. The next time Grendel attacks Heorot Hall, and our hero is already waiting for him. Having decided to fight Grendel in hand-to-hand combat, he wrestles the demon into submission and manages to tear off his arm at the shoulder. With this mortal wounded, Grendel runs away into the wilderness and passes away. Beowulf, Hrothgar, as well as their followers organize a wild party to celebrate this victory. Hrothgar also gives the hero lots of presents as well as treasures to reward him for his great defeat of the demon.

That’s so sad, Grendel boasts an overprotective mom, deciding to avenge her dead son. While all the soldiers are sleeping off the party, she unexpectedly attacks Heorot Hall. When the soldiers wake up, she panics and runs away to a cave underneath a lake nearby, her lair. Beowulf, his Geatish soldiers as well as some of Hrothgar's Danish solders keep tracking her there. Beowulf then dives into that lake and spots the cave, where he immediately takes on Grendel's mother in another one-on-one battle. Grabbing a nearby sword from Grendel's mom’s stash of treasure, he slays her, even although her poisonous demon blood has the blade melted. When Beowulf gets back to the surface, carrying the sword hilt along with Grendel's severed head, the Danish soldiers have given him up for dead, except his Geatish followers, still waiting patiently. When everybody sees that Beowulf has managed to survive the second challenge, another party breaks with gift-giving breaks out. In the end, the Geats take their leave of the Danes and Beowulf says adieu to King Hrothgar and then gets back to Geatland, where he happens to be a lord in the court of King Hygelac. Hygelac as well as his relatives get killed in a series of blood-feuds, and Beowulf suddenly becomes the King of the Geats.
