Types of Political Ideologies

Ideology in politics is designed to engage in the study of the interests and values of those or other social strata, classes, ethnic groups and concessions. Each ideology strives to prove the validity of its views, ideas, values, and the failure of others.

Political ideology is developed by political elites. The more people become followers of a particular ideology, the more likely the elites gain the political power. Every ideology has its views on the political and socio-economic development of the society, methods and means of solving the issues of the community.

There are several basic types of political ideologies. Liberalism is the ideology originated in Western Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries. The main value of liberal ideas is a person, his rights and freedoms, as well as the greatest freedom from the state and full freedom of business activity. Communism is a classless social system with a single public property on means of production. Communism pursues the principle of full social equality of all members of society. Nationalism is a political line, the fundamental principle of which is the thesis of the value of the nation as the highest form of social entity and its primacy in the state-forming process. Conservatism is an ideological commitment to traditional values and order, social or religious doctrines. Social democracy is an ideology, principles of which are: universal suffrage, the extension of popular participation in the formation of public authorities, a wide range of civil rights and liberties. Social democracy advocates the idea of significant income taxation and social legislation that guarantees the right to work, leisure, health, social insurance.

If there is no dominant force, able to unite and mobilise the people on achieving public goals, it makes the state and society an amorphous formation, where each citizen pursues his personal or group goals, rejecting social responsibility for the future of the country.

Political ideology can unite and divide people, make them allies or enemies, warriors or pacifists. Therefore, an ideology is a powerful weapon in the political struggle. However, it is not necessary that an ideology is directed against anyone. People can simply be united by humanistic ideas on a national scale, for example, by the idea of the prosperity of the country, the idea of poverty, the idea of population maintenance and so on.

Ideology in politics is designed to engage in the study of the interests and values of those or other social strata, classes, ethnic groups and concessions. Each ideology strives to prove the validity of its views, ideas, values, and the failure of others.

Political ideology is developed by political elites.
