A Prayer in Spring of Robert Frost

Robert Frost (1874-1963) is considered to be in the US poet №1 of the XX century. Despite the fact that the American poetry of the twentieth century was rich in stars of the first and second values: Ezra Pound, Thomas Stearns Eliot, Hart Crane, EE Cummings, W. H. Auden, Edgar Lee Masters, illustrious galaxy of so-called "southern school" and many, many others, the only national poet is reputed to Frost. The greatness of Frost poems opens to reader not at once: the poet, at first glance, is simple-minded, bat later it turns out, he is very complicated.

The name of the poem by Robert Frost "A Prayer in Spring " quite clearly conveys the content and the basic idea of the product: an appeal to a higher power with the request. In the first verse, we see that the lyrical hero turns to God for happiness in the moment, because present is the most important point in our lives. This idea appears in the second stanza, but in this part the hero does not pray only for his own happiness, but the happiness of every creature in the world. It should be noted that in the third stanza, the lyrical hero highlights the facts that the moments of happiness lasts only a brief moment, but for this little time it can illumine our lives. In the fourth and final stanza, the hero of the poem says that the greatest happiness in life is love that accompanies us throughout our lives.

A special beauty of the poem becomes pronounced thanks to the rhyme, which gives the product a special musicality and rhythm.

Of course, speaking of the poem "A Prayer in Spring " cannot fail to note the special, poetic speech of the author. The poem is full, in the best sense of the word, with different stylistic means. First of all, we see here the parallelism (the same beginning of the first and second stanzas) that creates the unity of the work and emphasizes the cyclical nature of our lives, the transition from dark to light moments. In the third verse we see a personification: a meteor is identified with the man whose life is also changeable. In the same verse we see a metaphor (meteor - arrow), which emphasizes the transience of life. Also here is a comparisons (the first and second stanzas), which gives the poem a special brilliance and emotionality.

"A Prayer in Spring " is a beautiful poem by Robert Frost. The poem tells us how important to appreciate the moments of happiness, because they are so fleeting and sometimes seem to be barely noticeable. We should be grateful to God for giving us love and for those light moments that occur in our life's journey.
