A Law to Stop Abortion: Pros & Cons

Abortion decision that the Supreme Court issued on January 22, 1973, is known in the USA on behalf of the party as "Roe V. Wade". Texas resident Norma MacCorvi was hiding under the pseudonym Jay Rowe, ironically subsequently made principled opponent of abortion. Her opponent was the prosecutor of Texas Dallas County Henry Wade, who defended the strict limits on abortion.

Before "Roe V. Wade" abortions have been banned in a number of states in the country, while others hobbled a number of restrictions. Specifically, the US Supreme Court ruled that in the first three months of pregnancy a woman or her doctor has the freedom to decide about abortion without any legal restrictions. Known restrictions went into effect in the later period of pregnancy. This decision removed all restrictions on abortion, pre-existing in some states of the country.

However, the issue of abortion in the United States was far from being closed. Not long ago, the impression that the anti-abortion camp is gradually gaining the upper hand. Individual states "pried pieces in the right to abortion," spent only in 2011, 92 new restrictions. Some laws require the girl's parents were notified in advance about the abortion. Other imposed restrictions on late termination of pregnancy.

Cavil and constraints have led to the fact that in some states there is only one or two corresponding clinics, where the doctor has to fly in from another state.

Blamed on Republicans who oppose abortion in principle, though sometimes even in cases of rape or incest, and has recently taken leadership positions in a large number of states.

Conservatives have been dreaming about the cancellation of the decision on the case "Roe V. Wade", but their chances of success are slim in the light of the re-election of Barack Obama. It is possible that he will now be able to appoint to the Supreme Court a number of new liberal members, as several of the current reached old age.

As shown by the latest survey, 63% of adult Americans oppose the abolition of "Roe V. Wade". According to a recent poll, 52% believe that abortion should be allowed, but only "under certain circumstances". 25% support the idea that they are always permitted, and 20%, in contrast, prefer a total ban on abortion.

Experts predict that the debate on this issue does not subside in the US for a long time. "Both sides have quite reasonable arguments" - said the liberal political science professor John Shields on site Huffingtonpost.com -. Both push quite convincing moral arguments."
