The Discussion of Philosophy at 33

Basically, Philosophy 33 is a great article introduced by James Harris. This is where he discusses different relationships between rock music and philosophy. In the past, people considered that this type of music had no respect from the society and was ignored by it. It’s worth mentioning that rock music is a major culture and contains its unique philosophy. For example, such important ideas as Carpe Diem and Hedonism are the main spirituality in it, and they are determined as enjoying a present moment and pressure.

These interesting ideas provide the audience with specific messages that they shouldn’t waste their time to make any plans for their future instead of enjoying their present moment. There are many people who actually follow these unique ideas only because they are just willing to have free sex and take drugs, which is 100% wrong. These messages are easy to notice in many songs that belong to rock music, including White Rabbit.

Another prominent song is Sister Morphine and it also shared the Carpe Diem idea, so it’s all about enjoying a present moment, and it also tells the audience how Keith Richards and Mick Jagger wrote about their senses and experiences of taking drugs. For instance, they believe that morphine can transform all nightmares into dreams, but they agree that this harmful and illegal substance will kill them. They are still willing to keep doing that and have it as long as they only can. Besides, this popular rock song mentions that when these men can’t see other people clearly and can’t move properly, they still want to score.

Some rock musicians treat such substances as cocaine and morphine as their relatives, and it seems like they like taking drugs to be able to enjoy each moment of their lives as these drugs make them feel that the time passes slower. This means that they can have more time for enjoying their present while getting high with the doses of harmful drugs. They want to use this time to explore the world better as they see things in different ways after taking drugs because these substances affect the nervous system and other body functions. That’s why they can see how back thigs turn into something good, thus leading them to the wonderland. In summary, the author of this article tries to explain the philosophy of the above-mentioned and other lyrics and wants to explain more about them.
