Principle of the Right of Revolution

There are different points of view which demonstrate the humans’ attitude to the right of revolution. But once John Locke created the theory, according to which every representative from the society has to have the right to choose the people who will work in government and represent the interests of nation on the international scene. So people have right to elect another government in the case, when the chosen one is out of control and can’t deal with the affairs which are in society’s interests. It is called “democracy”.

Let’s remember the recent situation in Serbia, where the President Slobodan Milosevic has lost the election, because of refusing to turn over the power to the new officials elected. In this case all the principles of right of revolution were violated as well as democratic selection process.

To understand the happened events in the full measure we should examine the historical events that leaded to the election. Politicians and reporters began to tout the Serbia-Kosovo issue as being the result of ethnic hatred which had taken place in ancient times. But it is not the matter.

The people from this territory always have lived in peaceful atmosphere for many centuries. And there are no conflicts which have arisen amongst them because of the ethnic origin. Some conflicts which were in Serbia were based on the things like ruling party and social classes. In the end of 1980s, Milosevic Slobodan was one of the leaders in Serbia getting a political power. For some reasons his actions were directed against Kosovo Albanian dominance in the province. Slobodan removed all the Albanian’s rights, their parliament, their party and leadership in the government. Also he removed the control of the Albanian-language library and administration of the educational system.

Of course, this is one of the brightest examples which demonstrate the violation of the human rights. Milosevic Slobodan took away the humans’ rights, and in the end of this story his actions attracted the attention of United States Congress which was interested in protection of human rights. Annual human rights were seen and considered in the White House by the Department of State. There were thousands of abused people who were disturbed by these removing rights. And, of course, taking into account this situation, people are well-informed about their right of revolution. It can be used by the society of any nation, because people chose the government which must meet the requirements.

There are different points of view which demonstrate the humans’ attitude to the right of revolution. But once John Locke created the theory, according to which every representative from the society has to have the right to choose the people who will work in government and represent the interests of nation on the international scene.
