How does the Circulatory System and Immunity cooperate?

Before explaining the connection between the circulatory and the immune system, it is necessary to provide the definitions of these terms. The immunity – is the state of being immune to the diseases. In other words, the immunity is what every person has and what helps us to fight various illnesses. The main function of this system is to distinguish and kill foreign and dangerous substances. Without the immune system, we would die very son even from a small cold. The circulatory system is the system, which is responsible for circulation of lymph and blood through the body. The major function of this system is to transport everything needed to the necessary place in the organism.

The immune system consists of such parts:

  • Bone marrow – its function to create certain necessary cells for body, such as red blood cells.
  • Thymus – “gives cells instructions” how to react to various foreign substances.
  • Lymph nodes – they have a function to filter lymph.
  • Spleen – filters the blood from the bad (old, damaged, ill) cells.

The circulatory system consists of these parts:

  • Heart – serves to pump and circulate blood to every part in the body.
  • Lungs – they have a function to transport oxygen into the blood.
  • Blood (Blood vessels) – a liquid that serves as a transport of essential elements for the body.

These systems work together, like everything in the body, to keep it alive. When the circulatory system provides basic resources and nutrients for the body, the immunity searches for foreign elements out of the organism. Various protecting cells that are made by the immune system use a blood stream to get to the part of body where the help is needed. As every cell is connected thought the capillaries, veins and arteries, lymphocytes and macrophages can get anywhere. Lymphocytes are one of the subtypes of the white blood cells, which protects us from foreign bodies by identifying potentially dangerous elements. Macrophages are a type of white blood cells, which function has to destroy foreign bodies found by the lymphocytes. The immune system uses the circulatory system to help the body to be healthy. Yet, if one of them doesn’t work the whole system fails. It is necessary to keep the whole body healthy, caring about every its system.
