Importance of Sixties to America's History

It is still the question about the importance of the sixties to the history of United States of America. Why were those years so important? In fact, the sixties considered to be so revolutionary, exciting and turbulent time of considerable technological and social change. It is notices about the unusual fashion, new styles in music, assassination, Camelot, women’s liberation, controversial war in Vietnam, civil rights, space exploration, anti-was protest which went along with the war, peace marches, sexual freedom, exciting movies and TV, and of course, the great amount of baby boomers. Those years also demonstrated how communism came into the Western hemisphere and that is why its coming into the Cuban Missile Crisis happened.

In the sixties also were movements towards the end of the poverty which helped the environment. And also at that time came all the women’s’ rights. It also should remain the years of American Camelot, which took place in the sixties. 1960 was a year, when the president was elected by the smallest amount of voters since 1884. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was elected by more than 100 000 people, who gave their voices to him as a president of American States. There is an opinion that father of john payed and bought this election to guarantee son’s winning, but no one knows the truth.

It was the first election which was on the television and radio. Nixon and Kennedy engaged the in the televised campaign debate for the first time in the world. President Kennedy is considered to be the youngest man who became a president and the youngest president who died in the office. According to the history, President John Kennedy was the only Catholic president. Being a president of so developed country, President Kennedy should make lots of decisions which concern the relationships between Soviet Union and United States of America.

The “Cold War” was heating up in the sixties of the last century. Before his presidency in Soviet Union a U-2 plane was shot down, at the same time Soviet Union was spying. That is why all Diplomatic ties between United States and Soviet Union were cut. John Fitzgerald Kennedy has lots of problems which he had to decide and deal with. There were many issues which concern inner politic, economic and social spheres. Of course, there were more serious problems with Soviet Union, which took too much time and efforts of the President. As result, all the actions influenced on the history which we know and learn now.
