Peter the Great and Louis the 14th Compared

The history tells us about the many leaders from the different countries. But there were Louis the XIV and Peter the Great who seem to be similar, but at the same time they were so different. There are also many pieces of information which tell about their properties. It is said about the “Homes” in St. Petersburg and Versailles. Of course, this information should be also taken into account.

What should we know about the Chateau de Versailles? 50 years should be required to build this fantastic building as Versailles. Built from 1631 to1634, the original residence was definitely a hunting lodge and it also serves as the private retreat for Louis XIV. The landscape had not the least meaning and importance at Versailles. Maybe someone has heard about Le Norte, who was the greatest artist in the history of landscape architecture in Europe. This talented man worked with Francian King, designing vistas, decorating fountains and creating many other arrangements which were places outdoor.

Louis the XIV had an enormous impact on the Europe and his Versailles also amazed the whole world. The whole complex was so large that Louis XIV didn’t have enough years to see it in full measure during his extremely long life.

In the middle of XVIII century the indelible stamp was put in the Saint Petersburg. Savva I Chevakinsky, Bartolomeo F. Rastrelli, Vasily P. Stasov and others combined clear-cut and austere lines with the richness of colors variety and decorations. Thanks to this unusual architectural setting, the cultural life of the city flourished and developed. With the Saint Petersburg lots of famous names are associated. By the way, there were people who worked in spheres of arts, science and learning. Such names as Dmitry I. Mendeleyev, Leo Tolstoy, Mikhail V. Lomonosov, Aleksandr Pushkin and lots of others are well-known in the world.

1738 was the year when the first Russian ballet school was opened in Saint Petersburg. It was the 19th century, when the Russian ballet became famous in the world, having lots of its fans. The year 1862 was known for the establishment of the first conservatory of music on the territory of prior Russia. The cultural life of the Russian capital developed greatly, and, of course, it happened thanks to the ruling way of the Peter the Great, who was the leader at that time. By the way, it had some similarities comparing with the Francian Louis XVI, who was also focused on the development of the whole nation in the lots of spheres.
