For Everything That Lives Is Holy John Lennon

This poem is reminiscent of a song Imagine written by John Lennon. The song is the author’s call to end violence and oppression. The biggest oppressor is people’s material positions and themselves. This song is about peace on earth.

In the first verse, the author tries to capture the attention of the listeners and think of how they live. Most of them too much think of the future, losing an opportunity to live “today.”

In the second verse, the author offers to imagine the world without any boundaries. I think Lennon tries to explain that all the people are similar, regardless of their social status, wealth, nationality, etc.

In the third verse, Lennon knows that many people are not such as optimist and dreamer as he is, but he believes that the world would be a better place if the number of people thinking similarly was greater.

In the fourth verse, Lennon believes that if there were no possessions, where would not be greed or hunger. At the same time, as nobody owns anything, everyone can share the same things, including the world.

The fifth verse is the repetition of the third verse.

In the poem of Blake, the first stanza is about bright and happy picture of what life could be. Anyone in our society could be a slave, for instance, the workaholic businessman, a man working for little money to provide for his family, a single mother, and others. Blake imagines what life could be like for these people.

The second stanza shows that people without problems in society could be beautiful and holy. His reference to the lion and sheep recalls of "rat race” that people live in.

The third stanza is about the price of experience. It is worth a lot to obtain experience, for instance, the soldier going off to war. He obtains his wisdom through the horrific events that he witnesses. The child may see how his parents get a divorce, and the student may take loans to attain knowledge for his future.

The fourth stanza is about people who during great times in their life may be impatient and judgmental to those who are poor. It is much better to try to help those people instead of humiliating or ignoring them. Some rich people consider others people a lower class, but only help those people really makes them good people.

The fifth stanza is the continuation of the fourth. Here, the author gives an example of how people do not want to share things that they have with others. The people that can enjoy a good life do not want to pay their attention to those who suffer. Still, the situation can change for any person very fast.
