What is freedom for most people? Nowadays, all people may have different views and their personal reflections on this subject, and most of them are willing to sacrifice anything to maintain or return it. That’s why I want to discuss the eternal freedom of a prisoner in this essay. Some people don’t understand the real value of their freedom until it becomes limited, and it happens with prisoners.
For one prisoner, the time for his escape finally came, and he was waiting for this moment for many months. He decided to take advantage of those guards who were careless and dipped himself in the water whilst other prisoners were passing by to return back to their camp after a tiring and long day working in the field. So, the first stage of his escape plan went as he wanted and he was one step closer to his eternal freedom.
He was pretty sure that others went far enough, so he fast jumped out of the water and started running towards woods. That’s because he knew that there was some highway near this place, so this is where he could hitchhike to get to the coast where he could find the next boat and escape with ease. It was nearly midnight and he’s been going for a few miles already, but he couldn’t find anything suitable. It was pretty cold and his nervousness was increasing, so he often looked back to ensure that he wasn’t followed by anyone.
In a small village located nearby, he saw some candlelight, so he went around this village because he tried to make no noise. However, the dog of a farmer sensed him and started barking, and it was followed by other dogs. He felt really upset, but it wasn’t possible to do anything. Some local farmers came out to find out what happened, but they saw nothing, so they asked their dogs to stop barking and came back their houses. The prisoner signed with a relief and want away.
It was already a dawn, but he couldn’t see any highway where he could get further, so he felt some panic and other negative emotions. He inhaled more of the fresh air, tried to listen to birds, look at the sky, and do other things to feel more comfy. He understood that his freedom is very valuable, and he saw a steam nearby, so he decided to take a quick bath. His father was a fisherman, so he could swum very good, and he remembered his past when he was put in jail because of his protests against Japanese people’s assimilation with his people. He was a Manchurian who didn’t want this to happen, and he was finally free.
