The Causes of Diabetes Research

To understand diabetes, which is quite a serious disease with many negative health consequences, people need know how glucose is processed in their bodies. Basically, insulin is an important hormone produced by the gland situated below and behind the stomach and it called the pancreas. It secretes insulin into people’s bloodstream where it circulates to enable sugar to enter cells. It also reduces the amount of sugar in people’s bloodstream, and when it drops, it leads to negative results.

Glucose is sugar or a key source of energy for the body cells that build muscles and other tissues. It comes from a few basic sources, a liver and food, and sugar is absorbed into your bloodstream where it enters body cells with the insulin help. When its levels are low, a liver breaks down the glycose it stores to keep the right balance in the body.

All the causes of diabetes can be divided according to its types. When it comes to type 1 diabetes, its exact causes are still unknown, but there are suggestion that the immune system starts attacking and destroying the cells that produce insulin, thus leaving patients with no or only little insulin. This disease is often caused by a certain combination of different environmental factors and genetic susceptibility, but many of them are unclear to doctors and scientists.

When it comes to type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, cells start becoming more resistant to insulin actions, so the pancreas can’t produce enough insulin to overcome this kind of resistance. The causes of this result are uncertain, but many people believe that both environmental and genetic factors play a huge role in developing this serious disease. For example, obesity is also linked to it, but not people with this diagnosis are overweight.

Finally, it’s worth learning more about gestational diabetes and its causes. During women’s pregnancy, their placenta starts producing special hormones that sustain it, and they also make cells more resistant to insulin. Under normal conditions, the pancreas responds to this effect by producing enough of additional insulin to get rid of this resistance. In some cases, this important body organ just can’t keep it up, and when it happens, cells don’t get enough glucose because too much of it stays in the bloodstream, thus leading to developing gestational diabetes. People should always monitor their health to avoid that.
