A Lot of Things to Learn from Sir Gawain

Round Table Knights have long been the standard of human morality and honor. One of the most important images of Arthurian legend, Gawain, throughout the development of the Matter of Britain retains some of its original features, which characterize the initial stage of the formation of myths about Arthur.

Welshman by birth, he is endowed with such primitive and coarse features that are difficult to take by Anglo-Norman.

Gawain carries few of these features through the entire cycle. They are saved even in Malory text relating to the end of the XV century: the power of his is rising from dawn to noon and disappears at sunset; his relatives on the maternal line is more important than the paternal one; everything related to Gawain, has the magic seal, and in general it has a special element of adventure fiction and even grotesque.

From the outset, he was one of the most prominent companions of Arthur and was too prominent figure to disappear later. That has never happened, but as new characters who "usurped" many features and adventures Gawain appeared, he gradually retreated into the shadows.

Gawain is rather simple and rude personality, which is still strongly affected by the features typical of pre-feudal era. From the point of view of the church and the feudal norms, Sir Gawain was morally unacceptable.

Despite this, Sir Gawain is one of the greatest personalities among the Knights of the Round Table. In fact, modern society has a lot of things to learn from this character. Gawain has incredible integrity and sense of justice than deserves the respect of many of his henchmen and enemies. He is willing to admit their mistakes and shortcomings.

Also, Sir Gawain is known as a man of honor, who is responsible for uttered words, and taken actions. His valor and courage impress everyone, because he is not afraid of any enemies, and fight for what of the faith. He was not frightened when he met the Green Knight.

Gawain appreciates the honor code, and keeps it throughout his life. For example, taking the challenge of the Green Knight, he has not departed from his word and took the fight, as befits to a true knight. Following the code of honor and its moral principles, Gawain is not inferior to any temptations and maintains its dignity in the face of any life circumstances.

Sir Gawain is a vivid example of valor, honor, justice and high moral principles. Even making a mistake, he is not afraid to admit his guilt and accept the responsibility. Nowadays each person should take Sir Gawain as the example of human principles.

Round Table Knights have long been the standard of human morality and honor. One of the most important images of Arthurian legend, Gawain, throughout the development of the Matter of Britain retains some of its original features, which characterize the initial stage of the formation of myths about Arthur.
